Hartford Firefighters' Federal Credit Union is committed to protecting the privacy of our membership. Under federal law and regulations, we are required to give you this privacy disclosure notice. This notice contains our policies and practices concerning the personal information we collect and disclose about our membership. This notice also contains information about the businesses/parties who receive personal and nonpublic information from us; information collected in the normal business of this Credit Union.

Hartford Firefighters' Federal Credit Union (HFFCU) collects personal information from you in the following ways:

  • Applications or related forms
  • Information obtained when we verify applications or related forms
  • Financial transactions with us
  • From other financial institutions
  • From consumer reporting agencies

HFFCU may disclose all of the information collected, as permitted by law, to the following types of third parties:

  • Financial service providers, such as mortgage service companies
  • Non-financial companies, such as consumer reporting agencies, data processors, check printers, plastic card processors, direct marketers, and government agencies
  • Financial institutions with whom we have contractual or joint agreements
  • Non affiliated third parties that process or service transactions that you authorize, such as check by phone

HFFCU maintains all physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your nonpublic personal information. We restrict access about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide service to you. We only work with companies that agree to maintain confidentiality protections and limit the use of information we provide to them.

HFFCU recommends using the following safeguards to protect your own privacy:

  • Protect all account numbers, plastic card numbers, PINs (personal id numbers), or passwords. Never keep your PIN with your card. You should never be asked to reveal a PIN to another person. Use caution when disclosing any information.
  • Keep your information with HFFCU current. If you have an address change, phone number change, name change, etc..., please let us know. It is important that we have current information on how to reach you; this could prevent unauthorized or possible fraudulent activity from happening.
